Hello again from room 206

This is what will be happening in our room this week.

6th grade religion- We will continue our discussion on Mary Mother of Jesus. We will also continue to watch the student’s powerpoint presentations on Mary.

5th grade reading/spelling- Students will finish up their projects on their favorite authors. Presentations will begin at the end of the week. We will also finish up the Hindenburg story. The spelling test on this unit will be on Thursday.

Hello again from room 206. Congratulations to Abby Herman in our homeroom who was our high score on the Mathletics competition. She will be competing against 2 other 6th graders on Friday in the Math competition. Good Luck Abby!!! Another bit of great news was that our homeroom 206 is in the lead for our grade level beating out Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Khhym’s homerooms for bragging rights and a homeroom prize.

This week is also spirit week at SJF. There are many fun things planned for the week. Lots of out of uniform days etc.

6th grade religion-In class this week we will finish working on our Mary Powerpoint Presentations. We will begin presenting by the end of this week. We will also finish watching the movie on Mary’s life which students are really enjoying.

5th grade reading/spelling- In class this week we will be working in the computer lab a few days. Students will be doing research on their chosen authors. They will also begin to put together their powerpoints on this project. We will also finish working on the story and skills for King Midas.

This is what will be happening in our room this week.

6th grade religion- We will continue working on our unit on Mary Mother of Jesus. Students will be in the computer class working on research and their powerpoints on this topic. We will also be viewing a wonderful movie on the life of Mary.

5th grade reading/spelling-This week we will be reading and working on the skills for the King Midas story. The spelling test on this unit will be on Thursday.

Reminders:

Friday May 4th is a 1/2  day. The school May Crowning will be in the morning.

Hello again from room 206. This is what will be happening in our room this week.

6th grade religion- In class this week we will finish up our unit on the Mass. We will have the last of the prayer tests on Tuesday. This test is on the Creed. It is a very long prayer to learn. We have been going over the different parts of this prayer for the past week. Hopefully all students have been practicing and will do well on the test. We will also begin our discussion on Mary the Mother of Jesus. We begin this unit as we begin the beautiful month of May, which is Mary’s month. Students will begin a project in the computer lab next week on Mary’s life.

5th grade reading/spelling- In class this week we will be reading and practicing the skills for the St. Matthews Island story. We will have the spelling test on this unit on Friday. Students will also begin working on their final book report in class. They will pick their favorite author and do research on their life and writings. Instructions will be going home this week. Most of this project will be done in class and in the computer lab at school.

Reminders:

Tues. afternoon is the Band Concert for all students

Mathletics is in the AIR. All students will be working on this competition this week. Let’s go room 206!

Hello again and welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful break. It’s hard to believe we are half way through April. Here is what will be happening this week in room 206.

6th grade religion- In class this week we will continue to take the prayer tests for our Mass unit. We will have a test on Wed. on the Gloria prayer.We will also be working on a project called Stations of Light. We will be reading many of the stories in the Easter Season.

5th grade reading/spelling-In class this week we will be reading and working on the skills for the story At the Beach. We will have a spelling test on this unit on Friday.

Hello again from room 206

The sixth graders really enjoyed their trip to the Argonne Lab last week. The presentations and labs were excellent and the students were very well behaved. I think it was a great experience for all. It was such a great place to visit.

6th grade religion- Last week students were tested on the parts of the Mass. I was disappointed in many of the grades on this test. Students were given time in class to study and prepare questions. This week we will have our first prayer test on Tuesday. Students will need to know the Penitential Rite. We will also finish up our unit on the Easter Season.

5th grade reading/spelling -This week in class we will finish up the skills and reading of Ghost Towns. The spelling test on this unit will be on Tuesday. All March accelerated readers are due before students leave for Easter vacation.

Hello again from room 206

This is what will be happening in our room this week.

6th grade religion- We will continue our discussion on the celebration of the Eucharist. We had a wonderful visit from Fr. Bob last Friday. The students were very attentive and really seemed to enjoy his input and teaching. We will also finish up our discussions about Holy Week which will begin next Sunday.

5th grade reading/spelling- We will be reading and doing the skills on the story Ghost Towns of the West. We will also be going to the computer lab on Mon. and Tues. to type our persuasive letters to the 4th graders.

Reminders:

All field trip money is due on Monday. We are excited to be able to go to the Argonne Lab. on Thursday. Students must wear their gym uniform pants and gym shoes for safety reasons. We will be eating at the lab so please bring a lunch and a drink.

Sunday March 25th Grandparents mass at 10:00. The book fair will also open after this mass.

We will be attending the book fair as a class on Tuesday at 11:00.

Hello again from room 206

We will have some catching up to do this week because of my illness last week.

6th grade religion- In class this week we will begin our unit on the Mass. Fr. Bob will be coming in on Friday to discuss some of the articles used during different religious celebrations. We will have a quiz on these items on Thursday. We will then continue with the different parts of the mass and the prayers said during this celebration.

5th grade reading/spelling- In class this week we will be reading and doing the skills for the story Journey to the Center of the Earth. We will have a spelling test on Friday.

Students may be out of uniform on Friday for $1.00

Sunday is grandparents mass at 10:00 followed by the opening of the Book Fair in Kane Hall.

Hello again from room 206

This is what will be happpening in our room this week.

6th grade religion-In class this week we will begin our unit on the Mass. We will be learning about all of the items that are used at mass and during other religious celebrations. On Friday Fr. Bob will be coming to class to discuss and explain many of these items. We will be having a quiz on this section of the Mass unit on Thursday.Students will be given a booklet with all the parts of the mass that we will be discussing in the next section of this unit. Students are not to loose these booklets.

5th grade reading/spelling- In class this week we will begin reading and doing the skills for the Talk With An Astronaut story. We will have a spelling test on this unit on Friday. Students will also be getting their instructions on their March book reports. They will be writing a persuasive letter to a 4th grade student. We will be typing these letters in class later in the month.

This is what will be happening in our room this week.

6th grade religion-In class this week we will continue our discussion of the New Testament and continue reading in our New Testament text. We will have a quiz on material covered on Monday. We will focus our study this week on Holy Week and the season of the Triduum.We will begin a unit on The Eucharist next week.

5th grade reading/spelling-In class this week we will be reading and doing the skills for the story The Titanic. We will have a spelling test on Tuesday.
